Långlyckan is situated in the village Skästra (sh-yay-strah) in Järvsö (yeahrvsow), right at the  very heart of Hälsingland, surrounded by rolling blue mountains soaring high  above the river valley.
Here in 1800s the independent farmers made their wealth from flax and timber. Times were good and the great farmers wanted it to show. Their principal way of expressing this was through building large farms with elaborately decorated ancillary  houses or suites of rooms reserved for festivities . Thus was the foundation  laid for what today is known world wide as the “Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland”
Seven of one thousand farms were chosen by Unesco in 2012 to represent the zenith of a regional timber building tradition that dates back to the middle ages.

Our ambition is to shine a light on this extraordinary treasure and to share and build on this truly magnificent legacy.
