Background

Långlyckan is situated in the village Skästra in Järvsö right at the heart of Hälsingland
surrounded by blue mountains soaring high above the river valley.

Here in 1800s the independent farmers made their wealth from flax and timber.
Times were good and the great farmers wanted it to show. Their principal way
of expressing this was through building larger farms with elaborately decorated
ancillary  houses or suites of rooms reserved for festivities . Thus was the foundation
laid for what today is known world wide as the “Decorated farmhouses of Hälsingland”

Seven of one thousand farms were chosen to represent the zenith of a regional timber
building tradition that dates back to the middle ages.

The products

What you are looking at here are products in 100% linen.
They are all designed by me, and the inspiration to these patterns come from stenciled walls painted in
and around the 1850s in the great farmhouses of Hälsingland. Hälsingland is a region 300 kilometers
north of Stockholm, aprox.

And it is the region of the country that has the best preserved  wall decorations in the country from that time.
In 2012 out of about 1000 farms, 7 were selected by Unesco to become a world heritage site.
And now these farms can be found on their list as “Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland”.
And the reason for this is the decorations.

Now Dalecarlia is far better know around the world as , sort of the cradle of Sweden with the Dala horse as their symbol . But in hälsingland is where you find the real treasures.
